» On March 19, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Michael Kenny O’Keefe and Robert D. Okun to serve as Associate Judges on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Mr. O’Keefe is a solo practitioner in the areas of criminal defense and family law. Mr. Okun currently serves as the Chief of the Special Proceedings Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. » On March 15, 2013, the Judicial Nomination Commission announced that the current four-year term of the Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals will expire in August 2013. The JNC — which is responsible for designating the Chief Judge from among the judges of the Court of Appeals who are in regular, active service — is seeking qualified applicants for the position. The current Chief Judge is the Honorable Eric T. Washington. Chief Judge Washington is eligible for, and has expressed an interest in, re-designation as Chief Judge. » On March 12, 2013, the Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure announced that it has begun reappointment evaluations of Associate Judges Patricia A. Broderick and Neal E. Kravitz of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Their current terms expire in October 2013. » On March 4, 2013, The Blog of LegalTimes published an article summarizing testimony of D.C. Attorney General Irvin B. Nathan at an oversight hearing of the D.C. Council’s Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety.
